The Clinical Shift is an interactive clinical organizer designed to help nursing students manage their shift in a clear and practical way, from receiving patient information at the beginning of the shift to preparing handover notes at the end. Each patient has dedicated, organized pages with a distinct visual layout to make it easier to separate cases and quickly locate important information during clinical practice. The organizer provides space for a patient snapshot, received information, pending items and things to watch for, medications and treatments, and tasks that need to be completed. It also includes dedicated areas for monitoring, important results, lines and devices, and handover notes. The Clinical Shift is designed to be used actively during clinical placement rather than simply read. Students can document information as the shift progresses, helping them keep patient details and responsibilities in one organized place. Its purpose is to help students follow each patient more clearly, organize priorities throughout the shift, and reduce the chance of missing important tasks or information before handover.

Open the file using an application that supports interactive PDFs and assign a patient section at the beginning of your shift. Record the key information you receive during handover. Throughout the shift, update tasks, medications, treatments, monitoring, results, and notes as needed. At the end of the shift, use the handover section to organize the most important information that needs to be communicated to the incoming nurse or clinical team.
